The Lighthouse in a Storm =) Stunning and Simply Thrilling.
Sometimes you look at a picture- and then pause and glance over once more. What does it mean to you?
Last day of Visual Insanity Journal Assignment: Finals! I’m sure every college student can somehow relate to this cartoon. Finals are upon us! I really enjoyed my Visual Communications class and am already mentioning things I have learned to random strangers in random conversations. Thank you Professor Nolan for this semester, it was real and it was fun, but most of all it was really fucking fun :)
Day # 29 of Visual Insanity: This a an awesome example of an extreme close up used in photography. The animal, I think either a horse or possible buffalo, is zoomed in on what appears to be two people taking its picture. The use of close up shots in this particular situation is great because it allows us to “look through the animals eyes” at the world that it perceives. It is a really cool and unique shot and I love it.
Day #28 of Visual Insanity: I picked this picture because it is a great example of how the photography respects and maintains the 180 degree line. In class we discuss how it is crucial that the photographer does not cross the 180 degree line and I really think this shot is a great example of how position can be used as a design tool in creating successful shots.
Day #27 of Visual Insanity: I really like this example of using the “rule of thirds”. In this photograph it is clearly identified how the picture is cut off into thirds. We can easily see how the photographer positioned the focal point of the fly’s head into the corner of a third column where the lines intersect. This displays the visual appeal that can be reached when the “rule of thirds” is implemented into any given photograph.
Day #26 of Visual Insanity: I thought this was a pretty good example of an “over the shoulder shot” from the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2. Here you can see Harry Potter’s emotional reaction as the dark wizard speaks to him. You can slightly tell who the character turned away from the camera is, yet the attention is drawn on Harry’s expression.
Day #25 of Visual Insanity: Alright, if I appear a bit obsessed with Foley videos it is because I TOTALLY AM! I can’t get enough of the behind the scenes sounds that are used post production. Mind=Blown! This is the third and final extension of the Foley effects in Lord of the Rings. Love it!
Day #24 of Visual Insanity: This is a great extension of the last video and another amazing insight into the art of Foley.
Day #23 of Visual Insanity: So in class we are discussing the use of post production sound effects. The concept of “Foley” was introduced and I find it fascinating that the majority of the sounds in the film are recreated in a studio. I had never thought about this before. This is a great example of Foley used in Lord of the Rings. I would definitely check this video out! It is so worth it!!
